What is Dermal Filler?

Definition

A dermal filler is an injectable gel, most often hyaluronic acid, used to restore volume, smooth folds and enhance facial contours such as lips, cheeks and the jawline.

Common hyaluronic-acid filler brands include Juvéderm, Restylane, Belotero and RHA. Results are immediate and typically last 6–18 months depending on the product and area. Biostimulatory fillers like Sculptra and Radiesse work differently, stimulating the body's own collagen over time.
